Blend of Malvasia, Godello, Moscatel and Albilla de Manchuela.
Made by Charlotte Allen, and english expat winemaker based in the village of Fermoselle, Zamora Provence, North West Spain. Right on the border of Portugal, near Douro.
Known as the ‘wild west of Spain’. Vines are organic, old vine (between 40-100yrs) and are a mix of 16 different varietals.
Granite soils with sandy top. Climate can vary quite drastically- mix of hot, dry Mediterranean climate and cool, moist Atlantic climate.
Many of the vineyards contain several different varieties, many native to the area. Charlotte tends to the vines herself (apart from during harvest), everything is done organically and some, biodynamically.
Winery cellar is caved out of solid black granite and believed to be about 500 years old. Ideal for wine making. Thought to have been used for Jewish clandestine prayer during Spanish crusades when Jews were unable to be open to their religion.
Pirita wines are blend of fields. This is a blend of malvasia, godello and other native varieties. Stainless steel fermentation with indigenous yeasts, 6 months on lees and minimal sulphur.
Pear and apricot, white flowers and stone fruit. Honey and fuller mouth feel, caresses palate. Mineral presence and excellently balanced.
