A weighty but well balanced Cabernet Franc dominant blend that’s full of fresh fruits and violets with a creamy, slightly chocolatey character but a savoury, herbaceous finish. It’s a tiny production and well worth a try if like wines with layers of complexity.

MORE INFORMATION
Producer
Rob and Jo first went to Argentina in 2011 and immediately fell in love with the country. Owning a vineyard wasn’t ever in their sights when the first went over but as they traveled and grew their love wine, their desire to make wine grew. They now have an acre of vineyard that lies in the Uco Valley at the base of the Andes. The name Cada Nube means ‘every cloud’.
Viticulture
The vineyard lies at an altitude of 1100m above sea level, which provides a cooling factor against the heat of the day. In Los Chacayes the maximum temperatures during the summer months easily exceed 30ºC and go down to 5ºC during the night. However, with low cloudiness and extremely strong evaporation, rainfall reaches an annual average of 320mm. The soils are made up of around 40-50% rocks with remaining volume composed of coarse particles of sand and silt. The 2019 growing season produced near perfect growing conditions, delivering healthy grapes with a good balance of fruit ripeness and acidity.
Winemaking
70% Cabernet Franc, 20% Malbec and 10% Merlot. Grapes are hand harvested and vinified separately. 21 day fermentation in stainless steel with half of the wine being aged in 3rd use neutral French oak for 7 months. After ageing, all three varieties are blended together.
Taste
Very ripe and intense dark fruit aromas of black cherry, plum blackberry. In the mouth these characteristics continue together with leather, pencil shavings and pungent herbs and spices. Excellent combination of tannins, acid, body and intensity means this wine is capable of ageing for some time.
Food Pairing
It’ll match a range of foods. It’ll favour grilled meats and be perfect with a charcuterie board. It’ll also take a range of cheeses to.
