Bodega Esteban Martin is a large, modern winery in the heart of Cariñena, a relatively flat, pretty hot wine region in the central north east quarter of Spain, about one quarter the size of Rioja to the north. The area is probably best known for its great value reds made mainly from Garnacha and increasingly for crisp, fruity dry whites. The vines here grow on dry, stony soils at around 500 metres above sea level in view of the Iberian mountains.
Vines are 35 years old. Batches of grapes are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks with the sole aim of extracting the maximum potential from each grape and capturing varietal purity. Wine spends 6 months in stainless steel prior to bottling.
This easy drinking red has dark cherry flavours and soft tannins with a hint of spice. Best served with poultry, tapas, rice and cheese based dishes or as an aperitif. An outstanding value wine for all occasions.
