De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company, established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli in 1928. They emigrated to Australia from their mountain village in the foothills of the Italian Alps, near the historic town of Asolo, and their Italian heritage still drives the way the family makes its wine. Vittorio and Giuseppina’s son, the energetic and dynamic Deen De Bortoli (1936 – 2003) expanded and consolidated the business created by his parents. In turn, Deen’s children established De Bortoli’s reputation for premium wine including iconic dessert wine Noble One and the Yarra Valley wines.
First created by Darren De Bortoli at the family winery in Bilbul in 1982, Noble One has gone on to be one of the most awarded wines in history, garnering more than 117 trophies and 376 Gold medals both nationally and internationally.
The fruit is sourced from De Bortoli’s own vineyards plus another vineyard of a long standing supplier of Botrytis Semillon to the winery. A long association with each vineyard gives them the confidence on when to harvest to reach their full potential. Each vineyard is harvested, fermented and matured separately to ensure the nuances of each vineyard flavours are captured. When blended together each parcel of wine plays their role in moulding the final wine known as Noble One. Wine matures in French oak barriques for 12 months. Semillon 94%, Sauvignon Blanc 6%.
Fabulous concentration of citrus and honeyed stone fruits with vanilla bean accentuation make for a mouth-filling delight. And the fusion of sweetness, spice and deft acidity add even more layers of seductiveness to the impressive wine.
