Producer
Hidden away in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte continues the tradition started by its founder. Champagnes produced with bold simplicity. They owe their subtlety to the Côte des Blancs. This terroir draws forth a rich balance from the powerful, airy Chardonnays.
It’s in 1760 that Maison Delamotte was established in Reims by François Delamotte. Maison Delamotte it’s first of all a family story between a father, François Dalamotte and his two sons, Alexandre and Nicolas-Louis. Delamotte more than hints at the family pedigree – Delamotte is the sister house of Champagne Salon, perhaps the world’s rarest Champagne.
Winemaking
100% Chardonnay. Made from Grand Cru Chardonnay with the addition of reserve wine (10% maximum), vinified in stainless steel tanks. Maturated on the lees – far longer than the statutory fifteen months – for up to four or five years before disgorgement. Ageing after disgorgement continues to perfect the finesse and elegance of the cuvée.
Taste
A pure, elegant and refined champagne, with a mineral core and chalky sensation that characterises Delamotte. Aromas of citrus fruits with hints of ginger develop to a creamy mousse with an abundance of more citrus and vanilla. Long finish with great acidity.
