Lovely fresh aromas of peaches and mango enhanced by nuances of jasmine, while a slight sweetness is balanced by a herbal, zesty finish.
In 1962, 19 vine growers from San Marzano whose families had farmed the land for generations, combined their efforts to establish ‘Cantine San Marzano’. Through the decades this cooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1,200 vine growers. Using modern and technologically advanced vinification techniques they produce elegant wines that pay homage to the ancient Apulian wine traditions. The fusion of time honoured tradition, passion and contemporary techniques, enables this winery to produce wines with distinctive varietal and regional characteristics while reflecting the local terroir. In the Sommelier Wine Awards, San Marzano was awarded European Producer of the Year 2017.
The vineyard is located in a hilly area to the north of the province of Taranto. The area benefits from great diurnal temperature variations, which provide good conditions for a long, slow ripening period, concentrating the flavours in the grapes. The vines are trained according to the Guyot method and are planted in rocky soils.
The grapes were harvested at optimum maturity. A cool, cryomaceration took place in the press for a period of 24 hours, extracting the desired levels of aromas and flavours. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks at 11°C to retain the purity of the varietal characteristics.
Light straw yellow colour with bright green reflections. Fragrant floral aromas combine with delicate honey notes and rich, fresh aromas of exotic stone fruits. The slight sweetness on the palate is harmoniously balanced by a herbal, zesty finish
Ideal with fresh seafood or light fish dishes in delicate sauces.
