ERSTE+NEUE has been exploring new avenues for more than a century, combining Alto Adige wine culture and tradition with innovation. Throughout this journey, they have dared quite a few first ascents and in doing so have written Alto Adige wine history. Created in 1986 as a result of the merger of Erste Kellerei (1900) and Neue Kellerei (1925) followed in 2016 by the future-oriented alliance with Cantina Kaltern. Today ERSTE+NEUE stands for top alpine wines, pressed in harmony with nature using not only the latest technology but also drawing on the experience and love of experimentation demonstated by previous generations.
Hilly vineyards with south to east exposure and altitude between 230 and 450 m above sea level. Calcareous-gravelly soil.
Mash fermentation in stainless steel tanks; storage and ageing in big wooden casks.
Dark garnet red. Powerful bouquet with pleasant cherry fruit. Palate and aftertaste full of smooth tannins with hints of bitter chocolate long lasting.
This powerful wine is an excellent accompaniment to red meat, roasted and game dishes.
