Fresh and aromatic Loire Sauvignon with bags of peapod and herbaceous flavours.
PRODUCER NOTE:
Loupart is the brainchild of Joost De Villebois, a Dutch financier with French roots. The wine is made by the very talented Thierry Merlet who has worked in Australia and Oregon, as well as his native Loire Valley.
VINEYARD:
The grapes were sourced from carefully selected vineyards from the Loire Valley, a region which is renowned for its elegant, fresh whites. Situated in the north west of France, and following the course of the River Loire, the vineyards are influenced by a relatively continental climate. The soils vary considerably and this diversity of terroirs contributes to subtle complexity in the resulting wine.
WINEMAKING:
The grapes were picked at various maturity stages to ensure the full Sauvignon Blanc flavour spectrum was achieved. Harvested during the night in order to retain the freshness and bright fruit flavours, the grapes were immediately gently pressed. The must was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for a period of two to thee weeks. The wine was aged on its fine lees for six months in stainless steel tanks, in order to express the pure fruit flavours.
TASTING NOTE:
A fresh and zippy Loire Sauvignon Blanc which delivers intense aromas of gooseberry and citrus notes. The palate bursts with concentrated flavours of blackcurrant and asparagus, complemented by a refreshing acidity through to a lively, moreish finish.
SERVING SUGGESTION:
Ideal as an apéritif, with fresh fish and white meats dishes. Excellent with goats’ cheese.
GRAPE:
Sauvignon Blanc 100%
