Smooth, full bodied and balanced, this is a great young Cabernet Sauvignon that shows a different side to the variety. It’s a wine that doesn’t take itself too seriously and great with BBQ flavours.
Valle de Colchagua, Chille.
Organic, vegan/veggie, natural, low sulphur, minimal intervention, wild yeast fermentation.
Metic is made by oenologist Luca Hodgkinson in Colchagua. Luca has been involved in winemaking from a young age as he grew up in Priorat to an English Dad and a French Mum before heading to Bordeaux to study wine and come out with a Master’s degree. Despite his education, Luca has spent a lot of time ‘unlearning’ what the classical wine schools had taught and instead focuses on making wines with minimal chemical and human intervention. He now consults for many wineries in Chile and has his own business sourcing grapes from sustainable and in many cases organic vineyards. Luca makes the wines with less manipulation than one would expect at this level.
Grapes for this wine come from 120 year old ungrafted vines grown on gravely clay soils. Organic viticulture is practiced.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Naturally fermented and aged in cement tanks. The wine is unfined but gently filtered and has minimal sulphur added.
A lovely combination of blackcurrant and plum flavours with a touch of spice and cocao, full bodied but with a balanced and smooth finish.
Great one for BBQ flavours- think ribs, burgers, chargrilled veg, the lot!
