This wine takes its name from the farm where it is produced and the du Toit family who make it. This wine, made in small quantities, melds appetising dark fruit with warm spice, complemented by a lovely freshness.
“Mont du Toit’s quality focus is evident in their flagship wine: vivid and powerful, dark-fruited and complex.”
Mont du Toit – The property was acquired by husband and wife team, Carolina and Stephan du Toit in 1996, their sole aim being to produce premium red, blended varietal wines. While the 28-hectare Mont du Toit wine estate is naturally suited to high quality grape growing – with its sloping vineyards, Mediterranean-style climate and complex soils – the du Toits’ unremitting pursuit of quality is the real driving force behind the estate’s success. Their belief in nature as the source of wine quality is reflected in Mont du Toit’s eco-friendly practices, upheld in the winery under the ‘inspirational guidance’ of German oenologist Bernd Philippi and his team of South African winemakers.
State of the art machinery has been installed in their cellar to manage temperature control, electricity cuts and weather forecasting, covering every angle in their quest to make the best quality wines possible. The measures they have taken have paid off well; since their maiden vintage, well over a decade ago, they have received international recognition for the consistent, high quality of their wines.
