A fabulous wine from a female superstar of the Douro- we have a lot of love for Ana and her wines! Made from three indigenous varieties, it’s a modern classic. Plenty of freshness and bright fruit whilst being delightfully smooth, it’s fab for all sorts of occasions.

MORE INFORMATION
Producer
Ana Rola was born and bred in the Douro and knew from an early age that she wanted to be a winemaker in her home land, the Douro Valley. Through growing up in the region, she has unbeatable terroir knowledge and a sense of originality which really helps her overcome the challenges in creating wines that stands out from the crowd.
The estate where Ana makes her wines, Quinta de Remostias, dates back to the 18th century and is located in Peso da Régua, right in the centre of Douro Valley. In 2014, Ana decided to leave her post as head wine maker at a large prestigious Douro winery to go it alone. She explains, “after so many years doing what I love for others, I think it gets to a point that we think ‘why not do it for myself.’” For Ana, it’s about making wines “that really tell you where they came from. Wine from specific vineyards with minimal intervention. Wines that are true & honest. We believe in what we do!’” & we do too!
Viticulture
Grapes for this wine come from two separate plots, both of which Ana selected specifically to show the freshness of Douro, and used them to create a modern Douro classic. Quinta de Remostias has 8 hectares of vines that are planted on schistose soil slopes, facing south and west.
Winemaking
A blend of Viosinho, Rabigato & Gouveio. Grapes are de-stemmed and slightly crushed in a pneumatic press. The must is decanted into a 2,500-litres stainless steel vat and left to settle for 24 hours before alcoholic fermentation. No oak is used.
Taste
A wine to really show off the character of the indigenous varieties of the Douro and well worth a try! Incredibly fresh with a crisp grip, plenty of citrus and tropical fruits, vibrant almond peel along and an impressive minerality. It’s not all about the freshness, it’s extremely smooth with a great complexity and long finish. Perfectly balanced and vibrant.
Food Pairing
Great with a variety of white meats & fish dishes or anything that has a clean, precise flavours and fresh herbs.
