The emotional link of the Calem family to the Douro and its wines began with the foundation of their company in 1859. Five generations later they continue to do so with the same concern for quality at a very reasonable price. José Maria Calém firmly believes that tradition is a trademark and their heritage. This boutique winery is equipped with granite tanks for foot treading with some wines especially their old vine wines that are from vines exceeding 100 years of age. Some of the wines produced are aged in French oak barrels and after bottling they continue ageing for a minimum of 12 months before being released.
Located in the heart of the Douro, Quinta do Sagrado has 20 hectares of terraced vineyards. The vineyards planted in 14 plots separated by vineyards, in addition to its privileged situation, bathed by the river and impacted by all the diversity of the Douro, give Quinta a unique production of quality and a very high reputation.
A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Tinto Cão. 100% Vinified Grapes In Small Traditional Presses.
Dark ruby color. Aromas of ripe red fruits and notes of chocolate and spices. Very balanced, intense, well integrated tannins, mineral and notes of cherries, raspberry and spices. A lighter, fruiter style of port.
Great with chocolate desserts.
