Producer

Romanina has relatively young winemaking history. However, it is thought to have some of the oldest vineyards in the world. It is, surprisingly, Eastern Europe’s largest wine makers meaning you can find their wines relatively easily in UK and they often give customers better value for money.Premium Romanian wine estate Cramele Recas was founded in 1998 and is owned by a winemaking team of three families, and it is here that they suspect some of their vineyards to be the oldest. The emphasis here is on quality and innovation achieved by hard work, passion, and of course a great respect for the terroir.

Viticulture

Romania has a good wine making environment with long gentle autumn months for ripening and a dry, continental climate. Grapes for this come from a region in the West called Bannat. Here it is relatively green with Hungarian influence.

Winemaking

100% Pinot Grigio. Not much is written about the winemaking techniques but we know that Cramele Recas is a modern winery and we can assume this has been made in stainless steel, temperature controlled vats.

Taste

Delicate pink hue, bright red berries, gently floral and a hint of spice. Super easy going and perfect for warm summer days.

Food Pairing

Great as an aperitif or for light dishes and seafood.
