Producer
Originally founded in 1949, the winery was eventually built in 2005. The domaine is currently led by Luigi Scala, who is recognised for favouring quality over quantity in his aim to produce distinguished Calabrian wines. From the growing of the grapes to the refinement and aging of the wines, Luigi strives to follow family traditions to best express the terroir of his products. He was joined in 2008 by his son Francesco, who oversees the business side of the winery.

Winemaking
Harvest: first half of October. The grapes are selected and hand-picked.
Vinification: In thermoconditioned stainless steel, with soft pressing of the grapes and brief maceration until ultimated alcoholic fermentation.
Refinement: At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the wine is racked and left in brick tanks at least 10-12 months for maturation. After bottling, the wine refines for a month before being put up for sale.
Taste
Powerful, persistent and fragrant. This is robust and rustic yet totally charming with flavours of sour cherry, plum, dried tea and sundried tomato.
